Words from Pastor Wally

As we continue our journey here at the First Baptist Church of Macomb, we have been blessed by God to raise the needed money to purchase the land He has selected for us to build our new building. We are going to celebrate that accomplishment on Sunday, July 6. The service will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a quiet time of reflection and prayer, followed by a time of worship. We will then end our Celebration by sharing in a light meal together. Every part of this day is important. Come - be a part of praising our wonderful Lord. Why should we Praise our God? In fact, what does the Bible say about Praise? Listen to what Mary, the mother of Jesus, had to say about Praise in Luke 1:46-48 (NLT) 46 Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. 47 How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! 48 For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.” Praise is the spontaneous response of a grateful child of God in His presence. The person who knows God and experiences Him intimately sings to the Lord with deepest Praise. Mary was overwhelmed by the Lord’s goodness to her. In response, she sang one of the most beautiful and profound songs of Praise found in scripture. We should never have any difficulty thinking of reasons why God deserves our Praise. We should enjoy both our private and public times of Praise. Henry Blackaby, in his book, Experiencing God Day by Day, says if your life is not filled with Praise, it may be that you have lost your appreciation for God’s merciful activity in your life. Never forget what God has done for you. As we think about the fact that God loved us so much that He allowed His son to die on the cross for us, it should make us want to sing His Praises as Mary did. Spontaneous Praise is authentic Praise. It does not need to be manipulated or orchestrated. It is a real and personal expression of a grateful and wonder-filled heart that has encountered Holy God. That is what we will be doing on July 6th, starting at 8:30 AM. You won’t want to miss this wonderful celebration. Come join us as we celebrate our past, rejoice in our present, and believe in our future.
I do look forward to celebrating with you on July the 6th.
